JOB PURPOSE (JOB SUMMARY):
JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of PositionThis position is responsible for the accurate, precise, safe and efficient sampling preparation and analysis of geothermal liquids, gases and solids. Provide accurate, precise and timely reporting of results. Follow strict quality control procedures established through the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Supervisor and adhere to California Environmental Protection Agency and United States Environmental Protection Agency's analytical procedures. This is a laboratory position that will perform work with general supervision and direction from supervisor.Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
- Adhere to and support all safety and environmental rules, policies and procedures.
- Prepare samples for chemists and perform analysis of geothermal solids, fluids and gases. (25%)
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic wet chemistry techniques. (5%)
- Conduct analysis and periodically perform initial demonstrations of capability for wet chemistry techniques. (25%)
- Prepare standards and quality control solutions and perform calculations involving dilutions, normality, molarity and stoichiometry. (15%)
- Demonstrate general use of word processing, spreadsheet, and other applicable computing skills. Will conduct data entry into the "Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and various spreadsheets. Report results to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. (10%)
- Perform routine maintenance and standardization of laboratory equipment. Maintain lab and field equipment in a safe, clean and efficient condition. (15%)
- Perform additional responsibilities, including special projects, as requested or assigned. (5%)

- Demonstrate proficiency in basic wet chemistry techniques as required by QA/QC.
- Report accurate and precise information in a timely manner through the effective use of data management and reporting tools.

- Perform responsibilities as directed within determined timeframes and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and the company.

Position RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. - One to three years experience or related education in the sample preparation and analysis of liquids, gases and solids, or similar laboratory experience.
- Must be proficient with the English language with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely and to interface and communicate both orally and in writing with all employees.
- Must have proficient computing skills, including the use of spreadsheets and word processors.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, and operating and maintenance procedures. Must be capable of issuing routine reports.
- Must be able to perform mathematical calculations used in the lab such as dilutions.
- Possess the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume and to apply simple concepts of algebra.
- Effective ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Must be able to evaluate analytical results and note trends in data.
- A valid California driver's license is required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to lift and carry loads up to 20 pounds. It also requires one to be able to climb ladders and steps as high as 60 feet. One must be able to withstand temperatures varying from 40ºF to 120ºF for long periods of time. Often times it is required to enter a confined area and climb to heights and get into the difficult to access areas of vessels.
- At times the employee is required to sit for long periods of time, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The individual is required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee will be utilizing all of the sensory perceptions such as touch, taste, feel, hearing and seeing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $ $35.00 per hour
