Our rapidly growing organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Manager to lead and modernize its accounting function. This role goes far beyond managing day-to-day transactions — it requires a proactive professional who can identify inefficiencies, tasked with solving operational bottlenecks, ensuring deadlines are met, and enhancing processes.
The ideal candidate is equal parts accountant and problem-solver: someone who can dig into data, challenge assumptions, and build systems that scale. You'll partner closely with the Controller and leadership team to elevate financial operations, optimize the ERP environment, and strengthen reporting across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the accounting operations team, setting clear priorities and cultivating a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive special projects such as fixed asset audits, cost allocation methodology, KPI standardization, and budgeting framework enhancements.
- Evaluate and improve accounting workflows, implementing automation or offshore solutions where appropriate while ensuring strong internal controls.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align accounting practices with operational needs and enhance visibility into key financial metrics.
- Perform and review complex reconciliations and analyses, ensuring data integrity and actionable reporting for leadership.
- Partner with the Controller to optimize the ERP system (Sage Intacct or similar), streamline chart of accounts, and improve reporting efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for performance improvement, leveraging data to support decision-making and drive strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
- Proven experience leading accounting operations for a project-based or multi-entity organization preferred.
- Strong analytical mindset with a demonstrated ability to diagnose issues, design solutions, and execute improvements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Sage Intacct or similar) and comfort with data tools for reporting and analysis.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively across functions and levels.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
Ideal Candidate
You don't wait to be told what's broken — you find it, fix it, and make it better. You understand how accounting operations underpin business performance, and you thrive on improving systems, tightening processes, and translating financial data into insights that matter. You're detail-oriented, driven, and ready to shape how accounting supports the next stage of growth.
