Misericordia is currently hiring for an Occupational Therapist.
Occupational Therapists at Misericordia evaluate and assess residents and provide both group and 1:1 treatment based on the needs of residents. Additionally, the occupational therapy team provides staff training and conducts environmental assessments of residential homes and work spaces to maximize resident safety and improve accessibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Occupational Therapy evaluations and assessments as needed for assigned residents.
- Provide direct/indirect treatment based on evaluation and/or assessment recommendations.
- Provide 1:1 and group-based interventions.
- Document for each treatment session provided to residents.
- Determine the need, recommend, fabricate, and implement adaptive equipment, assistive technology, durable medical equipment, upper extremity orthotics, and positioning programs.
- Develop and conduct in-services and training programs for staff and residents as appropriate.
- Provide supervision, treatment plans, and continuing education for therapy aides.
- Communicate with family members, Misericordia staff, schools, and medical professionals as appropriate.
- Assist with departmental duties: documentation review, scheduling, treatment coverage, clinics, education, and maintaining equipment.
- Continuously collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to meet the ongoing needs of the residents.
- Actively engage in meetings of the interdisciplinary care team as appropriate.
- Work with the therapy director to assure adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
- Monitor and provide recommendations for environmental safety and accessibility.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current NBCOT certification.
- Current Illinois state licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- PAM certification, preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- One year experience working with individuals with IDD, preferred.
- Ability to self-direct, work independently, and manage scheduling.
Schedule & Pay:
Full-time, $ an hour
