Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Field Superintendent in the structural steel and miscellaneous metals industry to lead and oversee construction projects from inception to completion. The Field Superintendent is responsible for providing on-site coordination for all phases of steel construction projects, including Field verifications and measurements, coordinating subcontractors, and equipment, ensuring that steel construction work plans are strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling manpower, inspections, quality control, and job site safety. Super is responsible for all Field Personnel health and wellbeing, all Tool and Equipment scheduled and weekly upkeep / maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure orderly installation of all steel erection contracted scope of work (Structural Steel, miscellaneous metals.
  • General management and leadership of ornamental metal installers. (Daily supervision and deployment not required)
  • Perform all due diligence on site as it pertains to access, material / equipment staging, storage on site prior to all erection start dates. Document and Report progress weekly.
  • Provide support and Input to Project Management on field related obstacles, obstructions, best practices, means and method prior to erection.
  • Comply with all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near-misses to ensure adherence to company standards for safety.
  • Create a culture of Safety, daily use of PPE and general safety awareness.
  • Oversee, supervise and delegate all Ironworker Foremen tasks and activities as it relates to company steel erection / installation obligations. Accountable for performance and results
  • Perform quality Field Measurements and layout for all Residential and renovation type commercial projects. Markup shop drawings clearly with measurements. This can also be delegated depending on other circumstances, however the responsibility for quality and accuracy lies with the Field Superintendent.
  • Assist in the development of lift plans, phasing plans when needed.
  • Coordinate and schedule Rented Equipment, Cranes etc. Make sure rented equipment comes off rent in a timely manner for all active projects.
  • Manage all subcontractors in accordance with required work schedule and safety standards.
  • Develop 1-2 Week look ahead Schedules to plan and coordinate manpower, equipment and tool needs.
  • Communicate with Foremen daily to review Daily Work Plans and milestones.
  • Quality control and enforce Stamford Forge standards for ironworking, site cleanliness and general appearance.
  • Review man-hour utilization on a weekly basis for all active projects.
  • Remain current with field operations daily.
  • Attend all kickoffs, Supervisor, and safety meetings.
  • Host weekly toolbox meetings with all field personnel.
  • Interface with all field employees' weekly compliment exemplary work or effort and address grievances as necessary.
  • Attend internal preconstruction meetings.
  • Annually review Foremen performance.

Experience

  • 5-10 years experience In the Role of a Field Superintendent or similar line of work within the steel industry
  • Extensive construction site experience with a strong understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, and construction estimating.
  • Demonstrated supervising experience with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in construction management software such as Bluebeam, Plan swift, or equivalent platforms for scheduling and documentation.
  • Knowledge of contracts administration including review and compliance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety best practices specific to heavy civil construction sites.

Pay: $85, $110,000.00 per year
