Trailer Mechanic

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Trailer Mechanic to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of trailer and heavy equipment systems to ensure optimal performance and safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical expertise, experience with automotive and industrial equipment, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Prior dealership experience and familiarity with heavy machinery are highly desirable. Duties

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics on trailers, trucks, and heavy equipment using schematics and diagnostic tools
• Conduct repairs on transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC units, and diesel engines
• Replace or repair shocks & struts, tires, wheel alignments, and brake components
• Fabricate parts or modify equipment as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding, and soldering techniques
• Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts, and other industrial equipment for maintenance tasks
• Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used in service logs
• Assist in the assembly and disassembly of trailer components during repairs or upgrades
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications
• Perform routine maintenance tasks including lubrication, inspections, and preventive care on trailers and related equipment
• Support customer service efforts by providing technical advice and ensuring timely repairs

Skills

• Extensive experience with automotive diagnostics and vehicle maintenance
• Strong mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation, truck/trailer systems, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers
• Proficiency with schematics for troubleshooting electrical systems and mechanical components
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and other maintenance instruments
• Ability to operate heavy machinery such as forklifts safely and effectively
• Knowledge of air brake systems, shocks & struts replacement, tire service, wheel alignment procedures, and brake repair
• Experience with fabrication techniques for custom parts or modifications
• Strong problem-solving skills combined with excellent customer service abilities
• Capable of heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs or installations
• Familiarity with dealership standards or industrial repair environments is a plus

This position requires a dedicated mechanic with a comprehensive understanding of trailer systems and heavy equipment maintenance. Candidates should demonstrate technical proficiency across multiple disciplines within automotive repair while maintaining a focus on safety and quality workmanship.

Pay: $ $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
