Position Overview
Plays a vital role in supporting providers and ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative functions. This role combines patient care assistance with clerical responsibilities, contributing to efficient, compassionate, and excellent healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations, record vital signs, and update medical histories.
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures.
- Administer medications or injections as directed by providers (if certified).
- Collect and process laboratory specimens, perform basic lab tests, and record results.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, organized, and properly stocked.
Administrative Support
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
- Manage patient check-in/check-out process.
- Verify insurance information and process billing/claims as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EMR system.
- Handle phone calls, messages, and patient inquiries promptly and professionally.
Patient Care & Communication
- Provide patients with instructions regarding medications, procedures, or follow-up care.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrate compassion, respect, and professionalism in every interaction.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Current certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred but not always required.
- CPR/BLS certification required (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Experience in a clinical or healthcare setting preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer applications.
