Automation Engineer (UI + API) – 2 Positions Available Mid & Senior Level

We are supporting a large retail POS modernization and migration initiative, hiring two Automation Engineers (Mid & Senior) to stand up the first automation program for a next-generation POS platform. This is an early-stage, high-impact role for engineers who want to build automation from the ground up, influence tooling, standards, strategy, and shape how quality is delivered across a major retail transformation.
(Retail POS experience is highly preferred.)

You will to take ownership of UI and API automation for POS and web applications supporting core retail workflows. This role is built for engineers who want autonomy and influence, not just test execution. You will help define how automation is built, executed, and scaled across releases.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve a scalable UI + API automation framework
• Automate critical POS and web workflows to ensure reliable, repeatable validation
• Improve execution speed, test coverage, and release confidence
• Support continuous testing and faster deployment validation
• Ensure automated validation for pricing, promotions, item data, and transactional flows across integrated systems
• Build and maintain data-driven regression suites that scale efficiently
• Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and fast feedback
• Create clear automation reporting and dashboards for stakeholders
• For Senior Engineers: Help define standards, mentor others, and support long-term ownership and handoff

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience automating UI and API layers for web and POS systems
• Hands-on experience validating backend services and business logic
• Experience building, extending, or owning automation frameworks
• Ability to evaluate tools and recommend the right automation approach (Selenium was mentioned as an option)
• Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with Git-based workflows
• Experience with test reporting, results visibility, and failure analysis
• Strong data-driven testing mindset (separating test logic from test data)

Highly Preferred

• Retail POS testing experience
• Experience supporting POS migrations or modernization initiatives
• Exposure to pricing, promotions, loyalty, item master, merchandising, etc.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO) for test management and defects

Mid-Level vs Senior Expectations

Mid-Level

• Strong contribution within an automation framework
• Write reliable UI + API tests and expand regression coverage
• Comfortable working in CI/CD pipelines

Senior

• Designs or owns the automation framework and standards
• Makes tooling and architectural recommendations
• Drives CI/CD integration and continuous testing practices
• Mentor others and ensure maintainability and scalability
