Overview

A large regional medical center in Kansas City, MO is seeking an experienced CVOR Tech III to support a high-acuity cardiovascular operating environment. This senior-level technologist functions as a clinical expert during complex cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and hybrid procedures while serving as a mentor for other surgical technologists.

This role is ideal for candidates with advanced cardiovascular experience who are ready to support high-risk surgeries and contribute to a high-performing surgical services team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced surgical technologist support during complex cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, and hybrid OR procedures.

  • Function as the lead technologist in specialties such as robotics, total joints, neuro/spine, burn, and vascular surgery.

  • Anticipate surgeon and team needs; ensure proper instrumentation, equipment, and supplies are available and sterile.

  • Maintain the sterile field and uphold all OR safety, infection control, and quality standards.

  • Assist surgeons in the second scrub role including retraction, suctioning, sponging, and endoscopic camera operation.

  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency with wire techniques and specialized cardiovascular instrumentation.

  • Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical teams to support efficient OR workflow.

  • Mentor junior technologists and contribute to training, development, and departmental growth.


Qualifications Required
  • Minimum 1 year of CVOR and open-heart surgical technologist experience (7+ years strongly preferred).

  • Competency as a lead tech in robotics, total joints, neuro/spine, burn, and vascular specialties.

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (CORT).

  • Certification: CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT).

  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

  • Prior experience in a similarly sized acute-care facility with comparable service lines.

Preferred
  • Extensive experience in hybrid OR or endovascular procedures.

  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency with advanced cardiovascular wire techniques.

  • Ability to act as a departmental resource and mentor.
