The Infection Preventionist (IP):
- Helps to prevent healthcare associated infections by isolating sources of infections and limiting their spread.
- Is responsible for surveillance, rounding, analyzing, interpreting, and the reporting of healthcare associated infections.
- Supports the development of evidence-based organizational infection prevention policies/standards that meet state, federal, regulatory, and accrediting agencies standards.
- Trains healthcare members in infection prevention.
- Is a leader in infection prevention and serves as a resource, educator, researcher, and proponent of change in order to influence infection prevention improvement to provide quality health care within the organization.
- Reports to the System Director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention.

Education Requirements
- 4 year/Bachelor's Degree
Experience
- Experience in acute care setting as Registered Nurse (RN) preferred
Certification and Licensure
- Infection Control Practitioner Certification (CIC) within three years of hire date
- ASCP Certification OR Compact RN License OR another clinical license or clinical cert
