Infection Preventionist

The Infection Preventionist (IP):

• Helps to prevent healthcare associated infections by isolating sources of infections and limiting their spread.
• Is responsible for surveillance, rounding, analyzing, interpreting, and the reporting of healthcare associated infections.
• Supports the development of evidence-based organizational infection prevention policies/standards that meet state, federal, regulatory, and accrediting agencies standards.
• Trains healthcare members in infection prevention.
• Is a leader in infection prevention and serves as a resource, educator, researcher, and proponent of change in order to influence infection prevention improvement to provide quality health care within the organization.
• Reports to the System Director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention.

Education Requirements

• 4 year/Bachelor's Degree

Experience

• Experience in acute care setting as Registered Nurse (RN) preferred

Certification and Licensure

• Infection Control Practitioner Certification (CIC) within three years of hire date
• ASCP Certification OR Compact RN License OR another clinical license or clinical cert
