Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized therapy services to patients across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, home health, schools, and skilled nursing facilities. This role involves developing and implementing individualized care plans to improve patients' functional abilities and quality of life. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and facilitate successful discharge planning.
Duties
- Assess patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs related to daily living activities (ADLs) and develop personalized treatment plans
- Implement therapeutic interventions aimed at improving motor skills, coordination, and functional independence
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including self-care, mobility, and adaptive techniques
- Coordinate discharge planning and case management to ensure seamless transition across care settings
- Work with diverse populations such as children in early intervention or schools, and individuals with disabilities or autism
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, safety measures, and adaptive equipment use
- Document patient progress accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies
- Collaborate with physicians, speech therapists, physical therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and patient care principles
- Familiarity working with people with autism, disabilities, geriatrics, pediatrics (including early intervention), or in specialized environments like skilled nursing facilities or inpatient units
- Ability to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs
- Skilled in case management and interdisciplinary collaboration for holistic patient support
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Ability to adapt interventions for diverse populations including those in outpatient clinics or school environments
- Knowledge of speech therapy integration is a plus for multidisciplinary approaches
