Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, or hospitals, and possess a strong understanding of medication administration, medical documentation, and patient care. This role involves providing high-quality medication management and support to residents or patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The Certified Medication Aide will work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver personalized care in a respectful and professional manner.
Duties
- Dayshift 7AM-7PM. Every other Weekend. Set schedule.
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility protocols
- Monitor and record vital signs, patient responses, and medication effects using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including mobility, hygiene, and feeding as needed
- Maintain detailed medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide specialized care for individuals with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, memory impairments, or developmental disabilities
- Support patients in hospice or palliative care settings with compassionate attention to their needs
- Perform catheter care, tube feeding assistance, and other specialized procedures under supervision
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition promptly and report concerns to nursing staff
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times to prevent accidents or medication errors
- Participate in ongoing training related to physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and caregiving best practices
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration procedures
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or complex health needs such as Alzheimer's or dementia care is advantageous
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner is beneficial
- Background in caregiving roles including hospice care, memory care, or community-based services is desirable
- Certification as a Medication Aide from an accredited program is required for employment
