Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician / Receptionist, where your energy and enthusiasm will help create a welcoming, efficient, and patient-centered environment. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while supporting clinical operations. Your expertise in optical and ophthalmology procedures, combined with your organizational skills, will ensure smooth patient flow and accurate medical record management. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage the check-in and check-out process at the front desk
  • Collect patient intake information, update medical records, and verify insurance details in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or similar platforms
  • Measure vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to assist the optometrists during examinations
  • Prepare patients for eye exams by performing preliminary testing and explaining procedures clearly to ensure comfort and understanding
  • Maintain aseptic technique during clinical procedures to uphold infection control standards in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with optical tasks such as frame selection, lens measurements, and retail sales of eyewear products
  • Support clinical staff by understanding basic physiology, anatomy of the eye, and medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology and pediatrics
  • Handle administrative duties including scheduling appointments, managing medical coding and billing processes, and maintaining organized medical records

Experience

  • Prior experience in a medical office environment or optical practice is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology or optometry procedures and terminology is advantageous
  • Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or other healthcare software platforms is beneficial
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
  • Experience with retail sales, front desk operations, or customer service roles demonstrating excellent communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmology or optometry clinics
  • Previous clinic experience working with pediatric or general patient populations is a plus

Pay: $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 – 37 per week
