Part Time Janitor

About the Role:

The Janitor in our Saginaw region plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our commercial building. This position ensures that all janitorial duties are performed efficiently, including cleaning, waste disposal, and upkeep of stainless steel surfaces and other facility areas. The role also involves operating a box truck for transporting supplies and equipment as needed, supporting landscaping and lawn care to enhance the exterior appearance of the property. The janitor will adhere strictly to safety procedures to protect themselves and others while performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting and carrying heavy weights. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall functionality and aesthetic appeal of the facility, supporting the organization's mission and daily operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience in janitorial duties within a commercial building setting.
• Ability to safely lift and carry heavy weights regularly.
• Familiarity with safety procedures related to janitorial and landscaping work.
• Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a box truck.
• Basic computer skills to document work and communicate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with landscaping and lawn care equipment and techniques.
• Knowledge of stainless steel maintenance and cleaning products.
• Previous experience working in a similar role within a nonprofit or community service organization.
• Certification in workplace safety or OSHA training.
• Ability to troubleshoot minor maintenance issues independently.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine janitorial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning restrooms and common areas within the commercial building.
• Maintain and polish stainless steel surfaces to ensure a clean and professional appearance.
• Operate and maintain a box truck for the transportation of cleaning supplies, equipment, and landscaping materials as required.
• Conduct landscaping and lawn care activities such as mowing, trimming, and general upkeep of outdoor areas to maintain a neat and attractive environment.
• Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment, including proper lifting techniques and the use of personal protective equipment.
• Utilize computer systems to log maintenance activities, report issues, and manage supply inventories.
