Who You Are
- Ordained minister or Master of Divinity (M. Div.), required. Degree with clinical pastoral education program
- (C.P.E. units or other specific graduate level training and clinical supervision in the social sciences i.e., a minister with an MA in psychology or social work); master's degree (MA) in counseling preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Public speaking and public presentations are a requirement of this position in addition to facilitating small groups and individual sessions with residents and/or family members.
- Ability to establish and maintain diplomacy in communications is expected as is the ability to maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA regulations and professional ethics.
- Advanced ability to assess for and intervene effectively in areas involving emotional and mental health problems such as grief, depression, anxiety, interpersonal discord, denial, etc.
Job Summary
The
Chaplain
shall provide supportive services to residents and families and facilitate programs appropriate for a religiously diverse population.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide pastoral care in crisis intervention to residents and family members including referrals as needed.
- Officiates religious services, such as Sunday non-denominational worship services and Memorial Services, as requested by the family. Arranges for events such as Seder dinner, Hanukkah celebration, Christmas services, and Catholic and Protestant communion. The Chaplain will play an active role in these events, with attendance and participation as appropriate.
- Scheduled, ongoing visits to the Health Center, Assisted Living, and Special Care Residence to provide chaplain services and support to residents and their families.
- Facilitates the quarterly Celebration of Life.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and cooperate with co-workers.
- Contributes to a positive, healthy, and safe working environment and accept changes in a positive manner.
- Performs any other relative, relevant duties as assigned by supervisor's request.
