Job Summary:
The Low Voltage Estimator / Assistant Project Manager supports Allied Electric's Low Voltage Division and reports to the lead Project Manager. The Assistant Project Manager provides administrative estimating support and assisting with project coordination from pre-construction through closeout. This role is heavily focused on the administrative, analytical, and documentation aspects of estimating while also supporting project managers with budgeting, change management, and project documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating and Pre-Construction Support:
- Support the preparation of accurate and timely low voltage estimates for competitive bids.
- Perform administrative estimating functions including quantity takeoffs, bid leveling, scope reviews, and vendor solicitation tracking.
- Assist with change order pricing, budget updates, and estimate revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and narratives to support proposal development and pricing accuracy.
- Maintain organized estimating files, bid logs, and supporting documentation.
Client and Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors to support estimating and project coordination efforts.
- Participate in meetings with internal teams and external partners as needed to support project success.
Technical Support & Compliance:
- Provide technical support related to interpreting low voltage drawings, specifications, and equipment selections.
- Assist with implementing and supporting safety policies and compliance requirements within low voltage project workflows.
Additional Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Low Voltage Division and project team.
Experience:
- Prior experience in low voltage or electrical estimating strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting project managers or estimating teams in a construction or low voltage environment preferred.
- Journeyman's Electrical License preferred but not required.
- BICSI Certification strongly preferred.
Technical, Analytical and Administrative Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required; experience with computerized estimating software (Accubid preferred).
- Ability to analyze drawings, specifications, and scope documents to support accurate estimating and project documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of low voltage systems, construction workflows, and applicable codes and standards (NEC familiarity preferred).
Organizational and Communication Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, estimates, and reporting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across estimating, project management, field, and office teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and support cross-functional coordination.
