Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Line Cook/Kitchen Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure the delivery of high-quality meals in a fast-paced culinary environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong culinary expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for food service excellence. This role involves managing kitchen staff, maintaining food safety standards, and contributing to menu planning and meal preparation to provide exceptional dining experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks and culinary assistants, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety standards
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating to meet quality and presentation standards
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Maintain strict food safety and sanitation protocols in compliance with health regulations
- Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and daily specials to enhance customer satisfaction
- Train new team members on kitchen procedures, knife skills, and food handling techniques
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and smooth operation during peak hours
- Monitor kitchen operations for efficiency, cleanliness, and safety at all times
- Ensure proper portion control and waste management to optimize kitchen productivity
Skills
- Extensive culinary experience with a focus on food preparation, cooking, and food safety practices
- Strong knowledge of dietary department standards and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Proven ability in menu planning, meal preparation, and fine dining techniques
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in various cooking methods
- Experience in food service environments such as restaurants or catering operations
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively under pressure
- Knowledge of food handling regulations and sanitation procedures
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff and ensure high-quality service
