Transmission Line Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to support power transmission and substation projects within the electrical utility and power delivery sector.

This role requires strong technical expertise in high-voltage transmission line engineering, the ability to work independently on complex design challenges, and direct collaboration with clients and internal engineering teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide engineering and technical guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of complex transmission and substation-related challenges
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor engineering work activities
• Prepare thorough, accurate, and timely technical reports, calculations, sketches, and project documentation
• Develop and review transmission line drawing packages
• Monitor project deliverables and schedules, presenting solutions and recommendations to clients
• Interact daily with client engineers and technical personnel
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers
• Support organizational goals and represent the company in a professional manner
• Continuously improve engineering knowledge, skills, and performance
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
• 5–7 years of engineering experience within the electrical utility or power delivery industry
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience interpreting technical documentation, drawings, and specifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Desired experience and skills:

• Degree in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer registration with NCEES record
• Experience designing high-voltage transmission lines (69kV and above)
• Technical competency across transmission line design, including structures, foundations, grounding, lightning protection, sag and tension analysis, and material selection
• Experience producing complete design packages, including drawings, bills of material, and construction specifications
• Working knowledge of applicable industry standards such as NESC, ASCE, ACI, and IEEE
• Hands-on experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, MFAD, and cost estimating tools
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and support cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Experience supporting construction activities, site visits, and resolving field issues
• General project coordination and task management experience
• Support permitting-related design activities

Work environment and physical considerations:

• Primarily office-based with occasional site visits
• Moderate noise environment typical of professional office settings
• Periodic exposure to outdoor conditions and electrical risk during site work
• Ability to perform tasks requiring standard physical activity associated with engineering field support
