Heavy Haul Transport Driver

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Haul Transport Driver to operate large commercial vehicles responsible for transporting oversized and specialized loads across various routes. This role requires a professional with extensive driving experience, a strong safety record, and the ability to handle complex logistics. The ideal candidate will be experienced in driving flatbeds, tanker trucks, dump trucks, and lowboy with pup while adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws.

Duties

• Fully understand how to operate and safely drive assigned vehicles.
• Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) up to 140,000 lbs.
• Pick up and safely transport goods and equipment to the intended destination.
• Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck or flatbed to prevent damage/injury.
• Assist in mapping driving routes.
• Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery.
• Communicate with dispatch as needed.
• Check weather conditions and road reports before departures.
• Always ensure vehicle is kept clean.
• Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times.
• Track and report working hours.
• Adhere to company rules and regulations.
• Comply with DOT regulations.
• Make safety a priority at all times.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical safety and compliance with DOT standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance records.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, weather conditions, and company policies during transportation activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of safe and defensive driving practices, and safe work practices.
• Skills to include the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to drive vehicles with GVW up to 140,000 lbs.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Entry-level automotive background
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for heavy haul operations, HAZMAT and tanker required.
• Experience with manual transmission vehicles preferred.
• Knowledge of load securement techniques for various types of freight including freight on flatbeds.
• Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards for commercial driving.
• Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance.
• Physical ability to load/unload freight and perform vehicle inspections.
