Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical pharmacy experience, including LTC and critical care settings, and demonstrate a strong commitment to patient-centered care. This role involves managing medication therapies, providing expert consultations, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. The Staff Pharmacist will play a vital role in optimizing medication management and supporting interdisciplinary healthcare teams within hospital or outpatient environments.
Responsibilities
- Dispense prescriptions accurately using pharmacy software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapy plans
- Prepare and compound medications, including sterile IV infusions and compounded medications, following aseptic techniques
- Administer immunizations and provide patient education on medication use, side effects, and safety protocols
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals in compliance with regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical management plans, pain management strategies, and medication adjustments
- Document all patient interactions and medication therapies in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Participate in patient service initiatives to improve overall healthcare delivery quality
- Stay current with advancements in physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and hospital protocols related to acute care settings
Requirements
- Valid pharmacist license with active registration in the state of practice
- Knowledge of pharmacy software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and inventory management tools
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, immunizations, pain management, and medical management principles
- Ability to perform patient assessments effectively and deliver exceptional patient service
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information
- Experience working with pharmacy technicians and supporting team collaboration in fast-paced clinical settings
