Responsible for rendering of professional nursing care to all patients and assistance to providers and ancillary staff under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and Chief Operations Officer.

  1. Provide professional nursing care to patients making every effort to remain flexible, cooperative and supportive.

a. Assume the role of patient advocate taking into consideration any special considerations or needs of the patient and individualize care accordingly.

b. Act as liaison between the physician and the patient.

c. Ensure the comfort and safety of each patient.

d. Obtain and maintain patent IV access on all sedated patients.

e. Familiarity with medications, their actions, side effects, etc.

f. Identify emergency situations and demonstrate active participation in any required interventions.

h. Communication of relevant information to physician, nursing and clinical staff as needed.

i. Accurately assess all patients before discharge to ensure patient wellbeing and safety.

j. Provide accurate discharge instructions clearly and concisely, answering patient/care giver questions as necessary.

k. Follow all physician and/or Director of Nursing orders and requests in a prompt manner.

l. Knowledge and adherence to current infection control policies and procedures.

  1. Patient records are maintained in an accurate and secure manner.

a. Identification of patients is consistently completed according to institutional policy and procedure at all times.

b. Protect patient confidentiality while upholding HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

  1. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, self and staff.

a. Have working knowledge of all medical equipment.

b. Patient and personnel safety procedures are adhered to such as infection control, fire safety, radiation safety, electric and chemical hazards identified, etc.

c. Actively assist patients pre and post procedure during activities that pose a potential fall risk.

  1. Recognizes the importance of time sensitive issues.

a. Response time to emergencies is as immediate as possible.

b. Restocking of supplies in all areas is performed efficiently.

c. System issues are brought to management's attention in a timely manner.

  1. Assumes responsibility for professional development of self.

a. Strengths and opportunities for professional development are identified and goals for self- improvement are set and documented.

b. Annual mandatory training activities are completed within established time frames.

c. Mandatory continuing education for RN licensure is completed in a timely manner to ensure current licensing.

  1. Demonstrates leadership in the delivery of technical patient care.

a. Active participant in accomplishing the goals of the surgery center.

b. Recognition and support of peers is provided on a routine basis.

c. Time management and organizational skills are demonstrated and role modeled on a routine basis.

  1. Other duties as may be assigned.

ORGANIZATIONAL DUTIES:

  1. Perform daily/weekly/monthly duty assignments and equipment checks and maintain appropriate logbook documentation.

  2. Function as an active and productive team member.

a. Help is offered to others to solve problems and complete tasks in order to facilitate positive team dynamics.

b. Productive work habits are consistently displayed.

c. Time off is scheduled to avoid disrupting workflow.

d. Constructive input is offered to support the work unit.

e. Accountability for actions and decisions is demonstrated in daily work.

f. Feedback is solicited and accepted in a positive manner.

  1. Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to lift >20 lbs.; moving, lifting, or transferring of patients may involve lifting up to fifty (50) lbs.

  2. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  3. Acute attention to detail and ability to write legibly.

  4. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $38.00 per hour
