Pay Rate - $18.00/hr
Position Purpose
Supports the City's Communications Department by creating visual and multimedia content that brings the city's stories to life. This position focuses on video production, photography, and digital storytelling that enhance the City's online presence and community engagement.
Essential Job Functions
Capture and edit photo and video content for city campaigns, social media, and digital publications.
Assist with setup, recording, and post-production for interviews, events, and informational videos.
Support management of the city's digital asset library and media archives.
Help design digital graphics and social media content consistent with city brand standards.
Collaborate with communication staff to produce content aligned with strategic campaigns.
Contribute to creative brainstorming sessions and storyboarding for digital projects.
Track engagement metrics and help identify opportunities for multimedia storytelling.
Internship Structure
Provide a mix of entry-level type duties and the opportunity to work on a special project that aligns with the City's strategic focus.
Include professional development sessions and exposure to city operations.
Part-time, paid position (or credit-based, if applicable), designed for students or recent graduates interested in public service communication careers.
Schedule will require a minimum of 8-10/hrs per week in-person.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Experience with video editing, photography, or graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, Canva, or similar).
Strong visual storytelling and attention to detail.
Solid understanding of digital and social media platforms.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Interest in creative communication and civic storytelling.
Knowledge Skills Abilities Preferred
Coursework or experience in photography, video editing, or digital design preferred.
Education Degree
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor's program.
Education Major
Digital Media, Film, Journalism, Communication, or related field.
Physical Demands
Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.
Hazards
Minimal exposure to hazards are typically found in general office environment where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident

Exposure to routine office noise and equipment

The City of Arvada does not offer benefits to temporary and/or seasonal employees. Temporary, Variable Hour and Health Plan Eligible employees will earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum cap of 48 hours.
