Family Support Manager

Reports to : Assistant Director

Salary (Grade): $58,240.00

Status: Reg., Full-Time (Exempt)

Job Purpose & Position Overview:
The Family Support Supervisor will assist the Director and Assistant Director in implementation of eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment and attendance (ERSEA) policy and procedures. He/She is responsible for the training, and coaching of the Family Support worker staff, ensuring that families receive the comprehensive services needed to maximize the optimal development of their children. He/She will also assist families as needed to address crisis events that may impact a child's regular participation in the program and/or relate to basic family needs. The Family Support Supervisor is responsible for the overall coordination and integration of services to families as it relates to early childhood education services, health, mental health services, social services and parent education services. The Family Support Supervisor is also responsible for developing connections/relationships within the community that will support recruitment as well as enhance services and referral opportunities for families.

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Program Implementation

  • Monitor the recruitment, enrollment, and orientation of children and families
  • Enter all new applications in Child Plus, and keep up to date on the eligibility wait list.
  • Assist Family Support workers to provide short-term crisis intervention and support to families
  • Collaborate with Health and Safety Coordinator in assessing the health care needs of children and families
  • Collaborate with Education Program Manager's in identifying any barriers for children and families as it relates to participation in Early Childhood Educational services
  • Assist in assessing and identifying potential referrals for child abuse or neglect

Support Director and Assistant Director in the Following:

  • Provide guidance, support and suggestions to enrolled families to best meet the community needs
  • Review families' progress (with Family Support workers) in achieving their Family Partnership Agreements goals
  • Identify professional development needs of Family Support worker staff, participate in the development of a training plan for staff development, and assist with implementing training as needed
  • Support implementation of new program delivery strategies gained through training.
  • Monitor and track all activities in the Family Support program including completion of Family Assessments, Family Partnership Agreements, community referrals, children's attendance, Family Child Reviews.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary educational planning for purposes of sharing data with families and developing and facilitating related family activities
  • Coordinate regular Family Support Specialist staff meetings

Parent Involvement

  • Ensure parent involvement activities respond to the identified needs of families
  • Assist conducting the implementation of all informational/activity meetings as facilitated by Family Support Specialists ie: Lunch and learns, orientation, Family fun events.
  • Facilitate Parent Committee in conjunction with the Director and Assistant Director
  • Coordinate volunteer programs, i.e. Foster Grandparents, Community Readers
  • Attend Policy Council meetings when needed.

Community Involvement

  • Maintain an up-to-date community resources directory
  • Develop collaborative partnerships between Educare and other service providers to improve access to comprehensive services for families
  • Represent Educare at community events

Administration

  • Assist in preparing monthly monitoring and program information reports
  • Participate in regular reflective supervision with the Director to receive guidance, report progress, plan new strategies, discuss problems, and receive information on program policies and procedures
  • Interview and hire Family Support Specialistsin collaboration with the Human Resource staff.
  • Provide orientation to new staff, volunteers and student/practicum students as needed and parent orientation.
  • Conduct Policy Council elections annually.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (preferred) or related field
  • BS Degree in Social Work or related field with 2 years' experience in providing social services to families and children
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of family, child and infant/toddler development preferred
  • Ability to establish supportive relationships and form an alliance with staff and families from diverse backgrounds on behalf of children
  • Knowledge of community culture, resources and services.
  • Knowledge of state TANF and/or child care block grant regulations
  • Ability to travel to community agencies and/or make home visits
  • Knowledge of principles and best practices of family engagement.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
  • Ability to establish supportive relationships and form an alliance with staff and families from diverse backgrounds on behalf of children
  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of program management and staff supervision.
  • Ability to utilize and provide reflective supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, in a manner that demonstrates and fosters cooperation, respect, concern and openness to change.
  • Ability to take, or think about the perspective of others and demonstrate self-awareness of one's own culture, beliefs, and values

  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification

  • Ability to lift, carry and move center/classroom equipment and supplies.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Ability to supervise departmental employees

Training Requirements:

  • Must be willing to pursue professional certification and/or training as directed

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.
  • While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.

Mental Requirements:

  • Reading, writing, calculating

  • Ability to work as part of a team and/or with minimal to no supervision.

Language Requirements:

  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

Certificates, Licenses & registrations:

  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section , C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL and PL regarding criminal records check.

Nebraska Childcare Standards A Criminal History Record Checks:

  • In accordance with the Nebraska child care licensing standards, all staff members and volunteers, must complete a pre-employment criminal history record check. The check must be conducted through the Nebraska State Patrol.
