Overview
Are you energized by meaningful work that directly impacts the lives of others? Do you naturally step into leadership, bring stability to teams, and want to grow your career in a rapidly expanding organization?
We are hiring two Program Directors to support residential homes in and around Scranton, PA (including Wilkes-Barre and surrounding communities). This is a high-impact operational and people-leadership role, ideal for someone ready to step into a bigger scope of responsibility — essentially a junior AVP track with strong upward mobility.
Why This Role Matters
The Program Director oversees 6–8 residential homes, ensuring high-quality care, operational excellence, and strong support for the frontline teams. You will serve individuals with unique needs, support the teams who care for them, and help strengthen the overall performance and well-being of your assigned homes.
If you thrive in a mission-driven environment, enjoy developing people, and want to make a lasting difference through both compassion and leadership, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
You will serve as the operational, cultural, and quality leader for your assigned locations. Key responsibilities include:
Operational Leadership
- Ensure homes meet performance, budget, and clinical effectiveness goals
- Conduct routine audits, monitor compliance, review incident reports, and partner with regulatory agencies as needed
- Support Care Team Managers (CTMs) with staffing, scheduling, payroll accuracy, and adherence to policy and procedures
People Leadership
- Guide and support CTMs to ensure they have the resources and direction needed to deliver exceptional care
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance feedback
- Build strong relationships with staff and help maintain a positive, mission-driven culture
Care & Advocacy
- Ensure the protection, dignity, health, and enrichment of individuals served
- Oversee accurate documentation, personal care standards, medication administration records, and daily living supports
- Partner with internal teams (training, HR, compliance, leadership) to resolve concerns and elevate care
Program Growth & Improvement
- Identify opportunities to strengthen programming, community engagement, and quality of life for individuals
- Play a key role in supporting your homes to achieve excellence designations such as Five Diamond Status
Who Thrives Here
We are looking for individuals who demonstrate:
- Compassion and a service-driven mindset
- Leadership presence — someone who can motivate, support, and hold teams accountable
- Operational discipline and attention to detail
- Emotional resilience and adaptability
- A desire to grow — this is an excellent stepping-stone into higher-level operations roles (AVP and beyond)
Candidates similar in background to strong Program Managers, Client Care Coordinators, Intake/Residential Supervisors, or other human-services leaders tend to excel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred
- Minimum 2+ years of management or supervisory experience in a residential care or human-services environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage competing priorities and oversee multiple home sites
- Valid driver's license; ability to travel throughout assigned region
- Strong computer literacy and documentation accuracy
- Commitment to supporting individuals with varying needs in residential settings
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary around $75,000
- Quarterly bonus potential up to 15% based on home performance
- Strong mentorship from experienced AVPs
- Clear upward mobility — PDs have the opportunity to move into greater responsibility with upward mobility as the organization grows
- A mission-driven, supportive culture that values compassion, accountability, and excellence
