Join our bustling logistics center in Washington, D.C. as a Material Handler! This role is fundamental to the efficient flow of goods through our distribution network. You will be responsible for moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and staging materials throughout the warehouse. This includes receiving incoming shipments, organizing inventory, and preparing items for outbound distribution. You'll work closely with Forklift Operators and other warehouse staff to ensure materials are handled with care and precision. Safety is our top priority, and all team members must strictly follow established protocols and utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This position requires significant physical activity, including substantial lifting, pushing, and pulling. A good understanding of warehouse operations and material flow is beneficial. Responsibilities:
- Unload and receive incoming goods.
- Stock and organize materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Transport materials using pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other manual equipment.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and assist with cycle counts.
- Prepare materials for shipment, including staging and labeling.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently, following all guidelines.
- Assist with loading outbound trucks as needed.
- Report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is a plus.
- Ability to perform frequent heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Good physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for extended periods.
- Proficiency in using warehouse equipment like pallet jacks and hand trucks.
- Commitment to adhering to all safety regulations and wearing appropriate PPE.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of inventory management principles.
- Dependability and punctuality are essential.
