About the Role: Vitacore is seeking a Controller or Senior Accountant for hands-on, high ownership role, responsible for managing all aspects of accounting and financial reporting for Vitacore. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating independently, partnering closely with leadership, and supporting both day-to-day accounting and forward-looking financial analysis. This role is ideal for someone who loves accounting, understands manufacturing environments, and is ready to take on controller-level responsibility in a growing, entrepreneurial company. To succeed in this role, you will need to love accounting, take price in accurate, well-run financials, and think beyond debits and credits to understand how the numbers support business decisions. You will enjoy owning the full accounting function and being accountable for outcomes, while being curious, proactive, and motivated to grow with the company. Responsibilities include: Accounting & Financial Reporting · Own full-cycle accounting, including AP/AR, payroll oversight, general ledger, and moth-end/year-end close. · Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with variance analysis and commentary. · Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets and inventory. · Ensure accurate and timely tax filings and regulatory compliance (GST./HST, payroll, corporate tax support). Manufacturing & Inventory Accounting · Oversee inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliation in a manufacturing environment. · Partner with operations and supply chain teams to investigate variances and improve inventory accuracy. · Support standard costing, margin analysis, and production-related financial reporting. Financial Planning & Analysis · Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning in collaboration with leadership. · Provide financial analysis to support decision-making, pricing considerations, and operational planning. · Develop and improve financial models, reporting tools, and dashboards as needed. Programs, Grants & Commercial Support · Support SR&ED claims, including tracking eligible costs, documentation, and coordination with external advisors. · Assist with financial inputs for RFPs, bid, and commercial proposals, including cost build-ups and margin analysis. · Support grant reporting, audits, and ad-hoc financial requests tied to innovation and R&D activity. Systems, Controls & Process Improvement · Maintain and improve accounting systems, internal controls, and financial processes. · Support system enhancements and potential ERP transitions as the business scales. · Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve accuracy, and increase efficiency. Leadership & Collaboration · Act as the primary finance and accounting contact for the business, reportin directly to the President. · Partner cross-functionally with operations, R&D, sales, and leadership teams. · Supervise and support accounting resources (internal or contracted) as required. Skills and Qualifications: · Must have 6+ years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting. · Experience operating at a Senior Accountant or Controller level in a small-to-mid-sized organisation. · Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting and inventory management. · Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. · Exposure to SR&ED, RFP costing, or grant-supported environments is a strong asset. · Advanced Excel skills; experience with QuickBooks or ERP systems preferred. · CPA designation completed or in progress is strongly preferred. · Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment. · Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
