We are seeking a contract Field Operator to join our Strathcona Resources team. The successful candidate will reside within 100 km of Smoky Lake, Alberta. Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Field Operator will be responsible for routine surveillance and minor maintenance activities in support of our operations.

The ideal candidate will have a full working knowledge of safety procedures, plant equipment, and all areas of plant operations. This role is essential in ensuring maximum, efficient production recovery while maintaining regulatory compliance and meeting sales specifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain logbooks to ensure entries are legible, informative, and time stamped.

  • Responsible for accurately issuing Safe Work Agreements in the assigned work area.

  • Direct maintenance activities and ensure work is completed according to Strathcona procedures and work standards.

  • Provide coaching and training to other employees as needed.

  • Provide responsible and effective leadership during emergency situations or maintenance activities.

  • Participate in Emergency Response Plan (ERP) drills, as well as near‑miss, incident, and behavioral‑based safety program initiatives.

  • Operate in compliance with Federal, Provincial, and Corporate Health, Safety, and Environment regulations and guidelines at all times.

  • Provide creative solutions and effective problem solving for plant issues, including troubleshooting, identifying deficiencies, and recommending effective process improvements.

  • Write, review, and revise Operations Procedures.

  • Report deficiencies, initiate MOCs, and enter work orders.

  • Willing to train and work in all operating positions in both the plant and field.

  • Ensure all areas are kept clean and meet/exceed company standards.

  • Committed to working collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Continue to learn new tasks and provide/receive feedback.

  • Continue to develop competence and interpersonal skills.

  • Represent the corporation in a professional and respectful manner at all times.

  • Use and learn computer software applicable to the facility.

Qualifications Include:

  • Candidate has 3+ years of direct related experience in field operations.

  • Experience in field operating both oil and gas producing properties, as well mechanical, instrument & electrical experience is highly desired.

Work Environment:

  • Based at our Bellis location.

  • The successful candidate is required to live within 100KM of the Smoky Lake, Alberta area.

  • 8/6 work shift rotation.
