Senior Financial Analyst

The UMC team works four days a week from our award-winning creative campus located in Liberty Village, Toronto, and one day to work virtually. 

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the organization's financial operations. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who excels in process improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and the delivery of accurate, timely financial information. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing periods of increased workload during month-end, quarter-end, and project deadlines, and will be committed to contributing to the team's long-term success.

How You'll Lead:

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and final financial reporting
• Analyze financial data, trends, and variances to provide actionable insights for business decision-making
• Identify and resolve issues by conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions
• Develop and enhance financial models, reports, and analytical tools
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities
• Conduct financial, internal controls, and compliance reviews in accordance with global policies and procedures
• Provide ad hoc analysis and support for special projects as required
• Collaborate closely with operations and project teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of business activities
• Train and support offshore team members to ensure process alignment and consistency

What You Bring:

• 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting, financial analysis, or FP&A
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a willingness to engage with complex issues
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis tools
• Ability to learn and work with multiple systems
• Desire to contribute to and grow with the team
• Experience working with or training offshore teams is highly desirable
• CPA designation or active enrollment in a CPA program
• Experience with automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Power Query)
• Background in operations finance or project accounting
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
