Daiken North America LTD is seeking an Electrical/Electronics Technologist to work at our Huntsville, ON facility.   We are seeking a skilled Electrical/Electronic Technologist to join our dynamic team in the wood industry. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing programmable logic controller (PLC) programs to enhance the functionality and ensuring that our machinery operates at peak performance. You will also participate in the design and implementation of control systems and instrumentation, including hardware and specialized software integration, as well as contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. In addition to hands-on technical work, you will also be responsible for conducting tests and evaluations of electrical/electronic components, as well as maintaining detailed documentation of projects and system configurations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, be adept at problem-solving, and have a solid understanding of electrical principles and practices. You will work closely with electricians and other technologists to ensure that our electrical systems are efficient, reliable, and meet all necessary standards and specifications. Your expertise will play a vital role in troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during the production and operations . Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement electrical/PLC systems for machinery.
  • Design and maintenance of various instrumentation systems that measure and control physical quantities such as pressure, flow, temperature, and level. 
  • Document programming changes and maintain accurate records of modifications.
  • Provide technical support for PLC systems during installations and maintenance.
  • Optimize existing PLC programs for improved efficiency and reduced downtime.
  • Test and evaluate various electrical components to ensure functionality and reliability.
  • Assist in the debugging and maintenance of electrical systems in machinery.
  • Collaborate with team members to define project specifications and requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for electrical schematics, designs, and specifications.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to design reviews and progress updates.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Stay current with technology trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Provide technical support and training.
Requirements
  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technologist Diploma, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with programming and configuring VFDs and DC control systems would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation protocols such as Ethernet/IP.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and circuit design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Certifications in relevant programming languages or systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) are a plus.
  • AutoCAD proficiency would be an asset.
