Our people are METHOD's greatest strength. Come and join the team and be part of a great culture while enjoying the pursuit of new products and continual growth.
We are a growing Design, Engineering & Manufacturing company based in South Surrey with clients across North America. Our 40-person team manufactures everything from one-off custom products for the entertainment industry; to high volume products for a specific customer, to in-house products and systems, and sells them through a variety of distribution channels to multiple markets and customer segments.
If you are an energetic, driven and excited about manufacturing, cost estimating and design , you might be the perfect fit to join our team as an Estimator / Technical Designer.
OVERVIEW:
You're the technical bridge between customer vision and manufactured reality. Starting with customer ideas—whether rough sketches, partial specs, or fully detailed drawings—you translate them into manufacturable products with accurate cost estimates, detailed specifications, BOMs, and shop drawings ready for production.
This role is more technician than conceptual designer, more estimator than ideator. Your Excel fluency and SolidWorks expertise matter more than your artistic vision. You'll spend most of your time on the technical work that makes projects feasible: costing accurately, detailing thoroughly, and ensuring designs can actually be built efficiently.
If you're someone who thinks technically first, approaches design challenges with practical creativity, and gets satisfaction from turning someone else's vision into a buildable product with a real price tag—this role will suit you well.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with customers to produce the optimal design for each product, maintaining a customer focused mindset; considering cost, manufacturing methods and all other factors which would impact a product's success; and finding the best combination of competing needs to achieve a high-quality product
- Estimate costs for products using in-house estimating tools to enable the sales team to negotiate the contract with the customer
- Prepare technical designs of client-driven products from initial design through release to manufacturing, representing the needs of the customer while balancing the capabilities and capacities of the manufacturing team
- Produce production ready Solidworks models, drawings, BOMs, specifications and other details to fully communicate the requirements for the project to the manufacturing team
REQUIREMENTS:
- A demonstrated ability to think analytically (in terms of costs and specifications) and creatively (in terms of physical designs and conceptualizing in 3D space)
- A degree or certificate in an advanced education program related to design and/or manufacturing
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the design department of a manufacturing company
- Proficiency in 3D Modelling software (SolidWorks), including modeling, rendering and drafting principles and techniques and GD&T

- Adaptability to be able to work with both technical and non-technical customers
- An ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) an asset
