Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Patient Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as a vital link between patients and medical staff, ensuring smooth appointment scheduling, accurate medical record management, and effective communication. This role requires a strong understanding of medical billing, coding, and terminology, as well as proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Patient Coordinator will play a key role in enhancing patient experience and supporting efficient clinic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient appointments, scheduling, confirmations, and rescheduling to optimize clinic flow.
  • Check in patients for procedures, verify all screening forms are filled out.
  • Verify insurance information, eligibility and assist with pre-authorizations/pre-certifications using knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards
  • Accurately document patient information and medical records within EMR/EHR systems.
  • Assist in medical billing and collections processes to ensure timely payments
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointment details, billing inquiries, and follow-up care instructions
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Serve as point of contact for patients, family members and other healthcare professionals facilitating clear communication and collaboration.
  • Support the administrative functions of the medical office to improve overall efficiency and participate in quality improvement initiatives and process developments.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding (DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical billing procedures
  • Experience with EMR and EHR systems for accurate data entry and record management
  • Familiarity with medical records management and documentation standards
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills for interacting professionally with patients and healthcare staff
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
  • Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years college experience preferred.

This role offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient care coordination while working independently and collaboratively in a fast paced healthcare environment.

Pay: $ $27.45 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
