Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has an opening in Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) for a Solutions Architect. We have been ranked No. 1 among U.S. engineering colleges by the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Guide for the last 27 consecutive years.

As a Solutions Architect, you will serve as a senior technical advisor for the Administrative Systems team. You will evaluate new and emerging technologies, coordinate with end users, and provide technical guidance and leadership in software acquisition, installation, configuration, and use. You will design and implement technical facets of system enhancements, modifications and/or replacements as well as ensure administrative systems are properly architected, configured, and monitored to meet Institute business needs.

You will ensure proper technical design and implementation of data integration interfaces with third-party software packages; serve as secondary Oracle DBA, performing maintenance and other tasks in support of the primary DBA or in their absence.

Additionally, you will perform technical activities in support of administrative computing systems and services, such as overseeing system upgrades, setting security protocols, guiding integration of new technologies, and troubleshooting complex technical issues. You will assist with technical aspects of standard operating procedure documentation.

Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in a technology-related discipline and five years of relevant experience. A comprehensive knowledge of database architecture and relational database management systems is essential. Knowledge of modern computing languages (eg. JavaScript, Python, Java), design methodologies and application development is necessary. Experience with APIs and software integrations (REST/JSON) desired. Must be able to collaborate with senior technical professionals, to specify, plan, and procure information technology and make strategic recommendations to the Institute.

In addition to the aforementioned qualifications, preferred candidates will have a master's degree in technology-related discipline and 8 years of position-related experience. Previous database administrator experience is strongly preferred. Ability to read, interpret and write documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures related to database environment for both novice and expert users is preferred.

Salary range is $78,000 – $107,000. Salary is competitive. A higher salary may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
