General Contractor specializing in Job Order Contracting with the University of Texas at Austin and City of Austin is looking for a Project Engineer who is a student at a local university or community college seeking a degree in construction. This company provides construction planning, project management, and general construction services to support government entities in the Austin, TX area.
Position Summary:
The Project Engineer's main job function is to assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with all aspects of the project. This will include review of submittals, updating project schedules, follow up with subcontractors and assist with project coordination. The individual must be dedicated, detail oriented, responsible, and complete assigned tasks diligently and within the allotted time frame. Candidate must have good communication skills and willingness to learn.
The work hours are (8am-5:00pm, M-F)
Responsibilities of the Project Engineer include:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials.
- Supports development of weekly/monthly status reports and photos for project team.
- Maintain control of all project documentation.
- Create. Manage and track RFI's from the field to the field to the architect/engineer of record.
- Maintain/update project records
- Turn in submittals from subcontractors to A/E for approval.
- Conduct and document weekly project owner's meetings/decisions
- Updating & Tracking project schedules
- Computer skills include MS Excel, Word, and Project, as well as Bluebeam, Pipeline and Procore.
- Coordinate preparation and distribution of project close-out materials including, but not limited to, warranty manuals and as built drawings.
- Communicate project status to internal team.
- Solicit bids for labor, equipment, and materials as required.
- Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with good attention to details and the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Review and respond to correspondence to and from subcontractors and vendors for assigned tasks.
- Assist the project team with closeouts of the project.
- Other job-related duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
· High School graduate or equivalent
· Must be able to cross-train and work in a team environment.
· Effective communication and organizational skills required.
· Knowledge of MS Word and Excel, Outlook
· Procore
· year of related experience/ or schooling in the construction industry in a similar capacity
· Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with other teams.
· Willing to work in an office environment or in the field.
