Job Description

Role: Java Developer

Start Date: January 1, 2026

Location: Bloomington, MN (Primarily remote, but Minnesota candidates preferred in event of in-person meetings)

Contract Type: 12 month contract (potential to convert after 6 months)

Rate: $65-$75/hour W2, dependent on skills and qualifications

About the Project

You will join a legacy modernization project, which involves transforming a homegrown application. The system integrates with other custom applications used across the organization. The modernization effort includes:

• Migrating the backend to DataBricks
• Moving the frontend to a web-based architecture

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable developer to drive modernization efforts across our technology stack. This role focuses on building scalable solutions, integrating data platforms, and delivering intuitive user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications and Databricks workflows for data processing and analytics.
• Build and optimize RESTful and GraphQL APIs to support enterprise-grade integrations.
• Develop responsive and dynamic front-end applications using REACT (or evaluate low-code alternatives where appropriate).
• Integrate solutions with data lakes and cloud platforms to enable secure, high-performance data access.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to modernize legacy systems and implement best practices for scalability and maintainability.

Required Skills

• Programming: Strong proficiency in Python and DataBricks, and familiarity with REACT
• API Development: Expertise in REST and GraphQL.
• Front-End Development: Solid understanding of React; familiarity with low-code platforms is a plus.
• Data & Cloud Integration: Hands-on experience with data lakes, cloud services.
• Version Control & CI/CD: Git, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
