Central Valley Indian Health, Inc. is seeking reliable, patient-focused candidates for the position of Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant assists in the provision of health care services, including rooming patients, entering patient information into the EHR, and performing required patient tests/assessments. This position primarily reports to an assigned clinic, but subject to cover any CVIH clinic as needed. This is a "Safety Sensitive" position and the incumbent is responsible for HIPAA compliance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Medical Provider Support:
A. Clean rooms between each visit and at the end of the day according to protocol.
B. Escort patients to exam rooms and obtaining all vital signs and test per protocol.
C. Prepare the patient and the exam room for medical services.
D. Perform lab tests and lab specimens as required by protocol.
E. Sterilize and store all instruments.
F. Perform all required tests and assessments required by CHDP, Diabetes, GPRA guidelines, & CVIH policy and procedures.
G. Maintain patient confidentiality according to CVIH standards and protocols.
H. Responsible for exam room cleanliness, stocking, and expiring supplies.
I. Responsible for Universal Precautions. Dispose of biohazardous waste in exam rooms daily.
J. Handle calling, documenting, and faxing refills as needed.
K. Ensure patients have been signed in prior to being called back for their appointment.
L. Communicate with front desk staff if patients are being called back or if there are delays that would affect patient flow.
M. Perform in-house and/or send out testing and give appropriate vaccinations. Monitor patients post vaccine and provide education on side effects, what to expect, etc.
N. Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide excellent service/support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts.
II. Quality Assurance:
O. Participate in departmental quality assurance activities as assigned by the Head Program RN/ RN.
P. Assist in the upcoming audits as assigned by Head Program RN/ RN.
Q. Any other duties assigned to the employee by the direct supervisor or CVIH Administration
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Medical Assistant Certificate.
Current BLS certification.
Knowledge of office skills, typing, filing, medical terminology, and computer literate.
Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, and kneel, squat, reach, & bend.
Ability to carry or lift 30 lbs, and push or pull objects weighing 50 lbs.
Must be able to communicate clearly to assess and educate patients, or those involved in patient care.
Normal hearing (aids permitted) in order to perform physical assessments and detect critical information regarding pt condition.
Vision is required within normal limits for administering injections, performing physical assessments, reading medical data.
A valid California Driver's License and clean driving record with the ability to be insured under CVIH's automobile insurance.
An awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs. Ability to meet and deal effectively with Indian Health Organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures. Tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgement in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
"Safety Sensitive" positions are subject to random Drug Test and is a requirement for continuous employment.

Candidates must submit the Central Valley Indian Health employment application in order to be considered for the position.
Summary:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 8:00-5:00. Coverage of other clinics may be required- mileage reimbursement or a company vehicle is provided.
Pay: $ $26.00 per hour
