Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join our engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the design, development, and maintenance of systems across our manufacturing processes. The right candidate will play a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency through precise data collection, technical troubleshooting, and prototyping activities. Candidates with a strong foundation in mechanical knowledge, schematics interpretation, and hands-on skills will thrive in this position.
Responsibilities
- Assist engineers in designing, testing, and improving products, systems, or processes
- Support prototype fabrication and assembly
- Collect, analyze, and document data from tests, experiments, or field work
- Prepare reports, test summaries, and presentations for engineering review
- Create and update technical drawings, schematics, and documentation
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis
- Conduct inspections, measurements, and quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications
- Assist with implementation of engineering changes on the production floor
- Supervise and direct production staff during product testing or implementation of process changes.
- Train staff on process changes and provide or assist with documentation when necessary
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures, regulatory standards, and company policies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and R&D
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
Required Skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
- Proficiency with standard measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gauges)
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude: assembly, prototyping, troubleshooting
- Basic electrical/mechanical system understanding
- Experience operating lab or shop equipment (e.g., drills, test fixtures, soldering, etc.)
- Ability to collect accurate data and document test results clearly
- Basic CAD familiarity (viewing, simple edits, markups)
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
- Competence with computer tools (Excel, Word, basic reporting)
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and stay focused on assigned tasks
- Demonstrated reliability in following procedures and completing work with minimal supervision
Helpful Skills and Knowledge, but Not Required
- Working understanding of ASME Y14.5 and/or ISO GPS geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred; ability to create, modify, and interpret models and drawings)
- Basic understanding of industrial automation, including PLCs, servo systems, sensors, and their operation
- Familiarity with fixture design, prototyping methods, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with data acquisition, test instrumentation, and basic scripting or automation tools (optional but valuable)
- Knowledge of root-cause analysis tools (5-Why, DOE, etc.) and continuous-improvement concepts
- Understanding of material properties, mechanical components, and standard hardware
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $38.00 per hour
