Position Overview
We are seeking a
Materials Specialist
to join our growing team. This role is hands-on and customer-facing, responsible for improving storeroom operations through inventory optimization, 5S methodology, data analysis, and best-in-class materials management practices. You will work directly at customer sites to design and implement sustainable solutions that deliver measurable value.
Key Responsibilities
Holistic Storeroom Management
- Address the entire storeroom ecosystem, including inventory management, layout optimization, and storeroom design
- Evaluate current-state storeroom practices and identify improvement opportunities
Data-Driven Insights
- Collect, analyze, and validate on-site inventory and usage data
- Develop storeroom strategies tailored to each customer location
- Establish, track, and integrate Inventory KPIs with customer teams
- Support the development and execution of effective warranty programs, driving significant cost avoidance
5S Methodology Implementation
- Lead and support 5S initiatives:
Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain - Identify and remove slow-moving or obsolete inventory (SLOB) and redundant parts
- Improve cleanliness, organization, and visual management within storerooms
Transforming Storeroom Practices
- Establish streamlined work and materials management processes
- Implement appropriate storage solutions and material flow strategies
- Leverage CMMS/EAM systems to improve inventory accuracy and maintenance effectiveness
- Optimize storeroom physical locations and support parts kitting initiatives
Qualifications
- Experience in materials management, inventory control, storeroom operations, or supply chain (industrial or maintenance environments preferred)
- Working knowledge of 5S, lean principles, and continuous improvement practices
- Experience with CMMS/EAM systems
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently on customer sites and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Willingness to travel as required
