Job Summary
Veterinary Technicians at FEPC serve as the veterinarian's primary medical support, assisting through all phases of patient care—from triage to surgery to discharge. You'll be hands-on with critical patients, utilizing advanced skills and working in a fast-paced emergency setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Triage patients and obtain patient histories
- Restrain and position animals for procedures
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia
- Assist in surgeries and emergency procedures
- Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, CPR
- Conduct diagnostics: radiographs, fecal, urine, bloodwork, skin/ear cytologies
- Administer IV, IM, SQ, and oral medications
- Calculate drug dosages and fluid rates accurately
- Educate and support clients during care and discharge
- Maintain detailed, accurate patient records in EzyVet & Vet Radar
- CT, Endoscopy, High-Flow, and Ultra Sound
- Maintain clean, sterile, and safe environments in all areas including surgery and radiology
Qualifications
- 2+ years of veterinary technician experience (ER preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of emergency care, pharmacology, surgical prep, diagnostics, and anesthesia
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted; stand for long periods; and work calmly under pressure
- Familiarity with OSHA standards, aseptic techniques, and zoonotic disease prevention
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Must be 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
