De Beers Group has an exciting opportunity for a Mine Engineering Coordinator to join the Mining Department in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Mine Engineering Superintendent and working a 14 days in/14 days out rotation, this is a key role to provide direct technical input into driving operational decisions at Gahcho Kue. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate activities between mine planning, mine operations and technical services team to execute safe, efficient mining, including secondary work, projects and technology based activities;
- Assist production staff and deliver field-based engineering support through inspections, coordination, verification of designs, work packages, and quality control;
- Provide day-to-day supervision and mentorship to junior engineers; demonstrate visible felt leadership and support safety leadership activities including risk assessment, near hit reporting, planned task observations, incident investigations and corrective action follow-up;
- Monitor plan compliance and production performance, identify deviations, and work with cross-functional teams to implement timely corrective actions;
- Create trade-off studies, designs, and field work packages that contribute to the planning, coordination and execution of mine plans, secondary work and infrastructure projects such as dewatering and pit facilities;
- Prepare, maintain and present technical and operational reports across multiple time horizons ranging from daily to annual;
- Contribute to short range mine planning, mid-range mine planning and drill and blast design functional activities;
- Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, performance review and lead initiatives that enhance safety, productivity and cost efficiency;
- Assist with the optimization of the short-range scheduling and design, through application of sound engineering design scheduling methods;
- Conduct project planning, producing project schedules, analyzing project progress and reporting on the project planning indicators; &
- Actively contribute to the design and implementation of dewatering execution plans; including life-of-mine planning and winter road requirements.
Formal Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering or equivalent;
- 6+ years' experience in open pit mine planning and drill and blast planning;
- Eligible for Professional Engineering registration in the Northwest Territories;
- Strong focus on systems and processes improvement;
- Strong background in open pit optimization and data driven analysis;
- Strong safety record and ability to implement established safety systems;
- Ability to drive accountability and achieve results;
- Ability to communicate, share information and seek input from different teams;
- Planning, time management, and problem-solving skills; &
- Experience producing, developing and presenting reports.
Beneficial if you have:
- Advanced skills with Deswik mine planning/scheduling or other software;
- Experience or knowledge of mine technology such as fleet management, high precision GPS, collision awareness and fatigue management;
- Experience in Geotech and/or dewatering planning; and projects or lean six sigma;
- Self starter and ability to work in a dynamic environment;
- Ability to manage and lead a team to be a high performing team; &
- Data analysis & skills in PowerBI, SQL and/or excel.

- Preference will be given to Members of the Deninu Kué, Lutsel K'e Dene First Nation, North Slave Métis Alliance, Northwest Territory Métis Nation, Tlicho Government, or Yellowknives Dene First Nation, followed by non-indigenous residents of the Northwest Territories.
