Whitecap Entertainment

 For over a decade, Whitecap Entertainment has set the stage for incredible performances and can't-miss festivals, showcasing world-renowned talent while supporting an outstanding local arts scene. Throughout the year, we liven up the east coast with comedy, drag shows, dance parties, live musical performances, and engaging expos such as PEI Beer Festival and Cannabis East. In the summer, we produce the largest multi-day outdoor music festival in the region, Cavendish Beach Music Festival. This 3-day country music bash attracts over 60,000 visitors annually, with past headliners including Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, and Tyler Childers. In 2023, we launched Sommo Festival: a celebration of music, food, and drink which continues to attract phenomenal global talent in the music and culinary sphere.

Manager, Operations - Whitecap Entertainment

The Manager, Operations oversees the planning, execution, and performance of shows, concerts, and festivals. This role leads the coordinators and grounds team, manages key industry relationships, ensures safe and efficient operations, and is responsible for budgets, scheduling, and overall event quality.

This role is based in Charlottetown, PE and will work between Charlottetown, PE and the festival grounds in Cavendish, PE during festival seasons (May–October).

  • 5+ years in venue, events, or entertainment management
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Experience with budgets, contracts, scheduling, and event operations

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

What You'll Do

Shows / Concerts / Live Events

  • Working with the Director, serve as the primary contact for promoters, agents, and artists, ensuring accurate advance, event details, and smooth execution
  • Oversee day-to-day venue operations related to live events, including staffing, guest experience, and service standards
  • Review and approve event plans, schedules, and staffing created by the Senior Ticketing & Entertainment Coordinator
  • Ensure backstage operations, hospitality, and artist needs are properly advanced and executed
  • Resolve escalated guest issues or operational challenges during event days
  • Manage the events calendar, booking priorities, and internal alignment with marketing, partnerships, and food & beverage
  • Maintain strong relationships with partnerships, promoters, agents, and external venues to support future bookings

Festivals

  • Lead festival planning and execution, ensuring operational plans, timelines, and budgets are aligned with organizational goals
  • Oversee festival site production, including infrastructure, layout, permitting, and safety compliance
  • Work with the Director, EMO, security, and RCMP to finalize safety and risk management plans
  • Supervise contract roles (merch, transportation, volunteers, hospitality leads)
  • Review festival quotes, vendor selections, and large procurement decisions prepared by the Operations Coordinator
  • Approve festival budgets, track spending, and ensure timely invoice reconciliation
  • Provide on-site leadership and resolve issues escalated by the on-site team

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and support the Senior Ticketing & Entertainment Coordinator, Operations Coordinator, and grounds team
  • Approve staffing plans and key hiring decisions for events and festivals (including volunteers, contract positions, and food & beverage staffing)
  • Hold regular check-ins, set priorities, and ensure accountability across roles
  • Foster a collaborative, solution-focused team environment

Financial & Administrative

  • Own event and festival budgets, including forecasting, approval of expenses, and post-event reconciliations
  • Approve contracts, major purchases, vendor agreements, and artist settlements
  • Complete and submit all permit applications for events
  • Ensure timely communication with finance and compliance teams
  • Review industry trends and bring forward new ROIs and creative revenue opportunities

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with marketing on event announcements, marketing plans, and ticketing strategy
  • Partner with food & beverage, partnerships, and operations to ensure aligned planning and execution
  • Collaborate with external agencies, government partners, and regulatory bodies when required
  • Work alongside the partnerships team to fully execute on-site deliverables and activations
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.
