Resumes are being accepted for the temporary position of IT Service Desk Assistant with the Information Technology Department. This role will perform Preform PC/Laptop/Mobile phone replacements and is responsible for imaging, testing, and installing software and hardware at City owned offices and facilities. Guided by the goals and objectives of the City of Guelph Corporate Strategic Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, service, inclusion, wellness and learning, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Community Vision for an inclusive, connected, prosperous city.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Utilize Microsoft system center to image new and replacement computers.
- Work with the IT Service Desk to troubleshoot and correct issues related to PC replacements.
- Install and upgrade Windows software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Performs testing to ensure that computers, applications and peripherals are 100% operational after being replaced.
- Receive work requests from the IT Service Desk. Fix problems and close tickets in a timely manner. Consults with and follow up with user when required.
- Prepare and deploy corporate mobile phones.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements
- Experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through a grade 12 diploma and currently enrolled in, or completion of, a post-secondary school degree or diploma in Information Technology.
- Must possess a valid G class driver's licence and have a good driving record. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current driver's abstract prior to their start date to confirm their licence is held in good standing and that it has not been suspended or revoked under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) or Criminal Code of Canada in the last 5 years. The City of Guelph will take into consideration the number of demerit points and/or nature of the infractions to determine if it meets our requirements.
- Experience with PC imaging, testing and software installation.
- Experience working with Windows 11.
- Excellent customer services skills with the ability to interact with City staff.
- Must possess good interpersonal skills, including oral & written communication skills.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain files and records.
Hours of workMonday – Friday, 35 hours per week between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
