Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Capital Markets Quantitative and Technology Services (QTS), has grown considerably in the recent years as Capital Markets leans more into Technology as a lever to grow the business. As technology demands from the business continue to expand, Finance support has grown in parallel in order to:

  • Manage Finance and Business Management relationship to guide QTS deployment of Human and Financial Resources
  • Manage relationships across the Enterprise as CM Technology is impacted by diverse groups (Enterprise T&O, CM Platform Reporting, etc.
  • Provide financial insights to senior management (Head of QTS, VP of CM Performance Management, VP of Enterprise T&O Performance Management)
  • Focus on employee career development through expanded responsibilities, increasing focus on culture, employee development, and succession planning

This role in CM Finance will support the QTS function to:

  • Manage financial and resource cost profile,
  • Coordinate budget processes,
  • Manage Finance relationship with business management in QTS providing insightful and actionable financial and business analysis for senior leaders.
  • Partner with Enterprise T&O to identify insights on Capital Markets Technology costs

The individual must have strong delivery, time management, self-starter, relationship management, and communication skills, as well as, an ability to work directly with senior global leaders. The role is responsible for assisting in the developing of the deliverables, preparing accurate, timely and compliant documents and reports, gathering and documenting formal business plans and requirements, and maintaining effective internal and external working relationships. The individual must effectively communicate financial estimates and executive strategy to RBC sponsors and stakeholders. He/she must work with minimum supervision and full accountability and find timely solutions to technical problems and people management issues. He/she must direct the activities of others, clarify timelines and quality requirements, and will be responsible for effectively engaging team members on the achievement of superior results.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Responsible for communicating financial results and forward-looking outlook to senior management to enable strategic decisions on investments, hiring and cost management.  This spans both departmental expenditures as well as financial insights and advisory to the group's interactions with other CM businesses.
  • Respond to executive requests regarding CM Technology to further add strategic value by leveraging deep insight of CM Technology costs.
  • Responsible on providing ongoing insight on various perspectives of Capital Markets Technology Spend to further transparency and strategic levers.
  • Building subject matter expertise on all cost lines and opportunities to actively further support cost saving initiatives.
  • Other Duties as required.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

 Must have:

  • Strong team and people management abilities, and ability to play a leadership role across a wide group of peers
  • Keen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with ability to multitask and handle high-pressure executive level requests on a continuous basis
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence stakeholders and mobilize groups to deliver on common goals
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to consistently exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks quickly
  • Proactive and persistent in issue resolution
  • Experience in complex wholesale business activity, management reporting and analysis, and/or financial resource optimization (capital, funding, and liquidity).
  • Very strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills required, with data mining skill and ability to explore new technologies to enhance the delivery of financial information
