Major/Essential Functions
Identify needs, trends, and forecasts to provide quality patient care within the unit(s); develop quality standards and priorities with the medical director.
Work with the Nurse Manager to allocate resources to meet quality and productivity expectations.
Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to develop, implement, and monitor plans to enhance patient satisfaction.
Oversee nursing activities in clinic and ensure policies, procedures, and legal parameters are followed.
Formulate, review, and revise policies and standards of professional practice; assure compliance with established standards of care.
Provide professional nursing care including medication administration, patient education, and clinical coverage as directed; maintain ability to work outside standard hours as needed.
Supervise care delivery and assist in coordinating patient care teams within assigned unit(s).
Create staff schedules and ensure safe, appropriate staffing levels at all times.
Interpret, communicate, implement, and monitor goals and objectives in institutional and departmental strategic plans.
Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to develop action plans for unit(s) aligned with strategic goals; provide progress updates.
Communicate with physicians, staff, and other providers to support efficient clinic operations; address and resolve patient, family, and staff issues.
Design innovative care models utilizing multidisciplinary team skills for effective outcomes.
Facilitate multidisciplinary participation in problem identification and resolution; use HR and budget data to support recommendations.
Build and sustain relationships, resolve conflict, negotiate effectively, and foster collaboration.
Ensure, provide and track clinical education to ensure staff competency.
Ensure staff compliance with required deadlines.
In collaboration with assigned HR Generalist team and Nurse Manager, hire, supervise, develop, mentor, and manage the performance of staff within assigned unit(s).
Understand and apply appropriately the provisions of the evaluation, coaching and corrective action process up to and including termination; licensure/certifications.
Understand and oversee the daily management of timecards/payroll reporting for all staff, including but not limited to approvals/denials, scheduling, corrections, leave requests, etc.
Apply organizational performance management system, practices, and tools to develop and improve individual,team, and organizational performance.
Review with the Nurse Manager financial reports and provide insights to budget variances; recommend budget ideas, resources and cost containment strategies.
Remain current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required for this position.
Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
Personally demonstrate, display and act in accordance with TTUHSC EP's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required. Master's Degree (MSN, MBA, MHA) preferred.
Minimum one (1) year providing direct nursing care in related clinical setting/unit within past 6 months.
Current and valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required by start date.
Current and valid license to practice registered nursing in Texas is required by start date.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree (MSN, MBA, MHA).
Minimum three (3) years providing direct nursing care in related clinical setting/unit within past 6 months.
Previous experience in a nursing leadership/supervisory position.
Certification in a role or specialty through a nationally recognized professional nursing certification body.
