Job Description
We are seeking a Wireless Systems Specialist with deep, hands-on experience across LMR/DMR radio systems, cellular wireless, Android-based devices, and enterprise Wi-Fi. This role is critical to the design, deployment, validation, and support of modern wireless communication environments supporting business and commercial-critical push-to-talk (PTT) operations.
The ideal candidate is a field-proven engineer or technician who understands how DMR, LTE/5G, and Wi-Fi coexist in real-world environments and can translate that knowledge into reliable, scalable deployments for public-sector and enterprise customers.
This individual will work both from our Silicon Valley office and at customer sites, supporting project delivery and performing technical assessments for deployment of our unified operations platform, which integrates cellular connectivity, DMR/LMR, and Wi-Fi for push-to-talk handheld devices and body cameras.
Key Responsibilities
Wireless System Design & Deployment
- Deploy, configure, and support Motorola DMR / LMR systems, including:
- Conventional and trunked environments
- Talkgroup planning and programming
- Repeater and infrastructure installation
- Codeplug configuration and optimization
- Support Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC / PTT-oC) deployments across carrier networks
- Assist with hybrid deployments integrating LMR, cellular, and Wi-Fi environments
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years hands-on experience with LMR / DMR radio systems
- Direct experience with Motorola DMR platforms (programming, deployment, support)
- Strong understanding of wireless fundamentals, including:
- RF behavior and coverage concepts
- LTE / 5G cellular operation
- 802.11 Wi-Fi standards and performance considerations
- Experience working with Android operating systems on rugged or enterprise devices
- Ability to perform wireless site surveys and interpret results
- Comfortable working both in the field and in an office environment
- Strong troubleshooting skills across layered wireless environments
- Ability to clearly document technical findings and communicate with customers
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Valued)
- Experience with Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC / PTT-oC) platforms
- Background supporting public sector, education, utilities, or mission-critical environments
- Familiarity with hybrid LMR cellular architectures
- Exposure to networking concepts such as QoS, latency, jitter, and VPNs
- Prior experience working in a systems integrator or managed services environment
Additional Information
Cellular & Device Expertise
- Configure and support Android-based push-to-talk handsets
Understand and troubleshoot:
LTE / 5G cellular fundamentals
- Carrier frequency bands and coverage behavior
- SIM provisioning, APN concepts, and device activation
- Work with major carriers to validate coverage, performance, and reliability
- Assist with device testing, firmware validation, and field troubleshooting
Enterprise Wi-Fi & Site Surveys
Perform wireless site surveys for Wi-Fi environments, including:
Predictive, passive, and active surveys
- Signal coverage, interference, and capacity analysis
- Assess Wi-Fi readiness for push-to-talk and real-time voice applications
- Collaborate with network engineering teams to align Wi-Fi design with operational needs
Field Engineering & Customer Engagement
- Participate in on-site deployments, cutovers, and acceptance testing
- Conduct technical assessments to determine deployment readiness
- Interface directly with customer technical staff, operations teams, and stakeholders
- Document deployments, configurations, and as-built information
- Provide post-deployment support and optimization recommendations
Platform Assessment & Integration
- Support evaluation and deployment of IT Management Corporation's unified operations platform for push-to-talk communications
- Validate interoperability across DMR, cellular, and Wi-Fi
- Assist internal teams with lab testing, proof-of-concept deployments, and customer demonstrations
