Our Des Moines, Iowa location is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to manage the accurate and timely preparation of outgoing shipments. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for verifying order details, preparing shipping labels, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate. This role is critical to our logistics chain, ensuring that products reach our customers efficiently and without issue. A keen eye for detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately process and prepare outgoing shipments, verifying order details against documentation.
- Create and apply shipping labels and documentation for various carriers.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Inspect outgoing packages for proper packaging and labeling.
- Maintain organized shipping records and logs.
- Communicate with warehouse staff and other departments to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE, and safe Lifting practices.
- Assist with inventory tasks as needed.
- Resolve any shipping-related discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and orderly shipping area.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency with shipping software and carrier portals.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety procedures and PPE.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework is a plus.
- Basic computer proficiency.
