Description An exciting opportunity exists to join our Engineering team as a
Senior Composite Design Engineer.
You will be a key member of our Composite Design group responsible for the scheme, design, testing and development stages of varied composite components. This opportunity will suit an experienced engineer with an innovative approach to design and strong knowledge of composite manufacturing techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Develop design schemes from preliminary concept for component design, assemblies and associated jigs, patterns and tooling.
Surface components and define laminate specification booklets.
Provide first response follow-up support on projects during assembly, testing and development.
Proactively participate in developing, implementing and improving design concepts through cost-effective, lightweight and structurally efficient solutions.
Support the Lead Engineer in all aspects of the group’s responsibilities and workload, including interaction with other departments.
Ensure appropriate delegation of work to progress projects efficiently through the group.
Mentor junior group members through involvement in a variety of projects and design/ manufacturing methodologies.
Support any fault investigations and implement timely fixes.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Degree level qualification or equivalent in a composite engineering-based discipline.
Previous experience of producing design schemes and detailed drawings of complex assemblies to a demanding schedule, ideally within Formula One or high level motorsport.
Experience of 3D CAD systems ideally with good working knowledge of CATIA.
Good working knowledge of solid modelling techniques and composite manufacturing techniques using pre-preg technology.
Strong enthusiasm, versatility and be able to build, develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
Great self-motivation and the ability to motivate others to thrive in a challenging environment.
