Material Handler Position Description. Primary duties:

· The scope of the job may include a wide range of activities including routine and non-routine tasks to be independently completed according to program guidelines. Plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient handling, storage, and distribution of materials.

· Documents inventory records in either an electronic database or hard copy format as necessary. Generate, run, and maintain all required reports and property documentation databases.

· Determine stock replenishment for items centrally controlled by monitoring and maintaining all required re-order points. Notify appropriate government personnel of any required stock replenishment items.

· Ensures orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product final distribution.

· Contributes to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials storage area.

· Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.

· Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on orders.

· Locates and packs materials for shipping.

· Documents materials and records units delivered and location of units.

· Receives return material and supplies by verifying materials and supply codes, lot numbers, and quantities.

· Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.

· Documents product shipment by recording shipments.

· Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs.

· Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, or signals machine operators to move materials onto and off trucks, ships, and loading docks.

· Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean.

· Open containers, sort, and catalog materials.

· Learns and adheres to workplace safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

U.S Citizenship is required. Select applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance. Individuals may also be subject to a background investigation including, but not limited to criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.

Two years of experience with strong customer service skills, previous experience using a computer, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a positive attitude and professional appearance. Requires thorough knowledge of policies, procedure, and structure of area(s) of responsibility. Requires the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Must have administrative skills typing and using microcomputers, and experience working with hand and electric tools. Must have and maintain OSHA Forklift and Hand Truck training and certification, be capable of lifting 50 pounds, and knowledgeable in the safe use of power hand tools. Must be able to work independently with little supervision; comprehend and follow written agency directives and verbal direction; and coordination several job tasks at the same time.

Pay: $31.45 per hour
