Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. As a DSP, you will provide essential support in daily activities, fostering independence and promoting personal growth within a safe and nurturing environment.
Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, ersonal hygiene meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Provide support in social interactions and community engagement to enhance social skills and inclusion.
- Help structure and maintain daily routines while incorporating personal preferences.
- Utilize adaptive strategies to foster independence in self-care and daily activities.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to the specific needs of each person supported.
- Maintain a clean and organized living space, ensuring a safe environment for all clients.
- Document progress and any changes in behavior or health status accurately.
- Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred; experience in social work or home community care is a plus.
- Knowledge of care practices is beneficial.
- Ability to assist individuals with through tailored support strategies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Basic cooking skills to prepare nutritious meals for clients.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly those with mobility challenges and non-verbal communication needs.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and adaptive communication strategies.
- Ability to assist with medical needs and recognize signs of health concerns.
- Strong interpersonal skills and patience in supporting social and emotional well-being.
- A compassionate attitude towards helping others achieve their goals and maintain dignity.
- Monitor health needs, including specialized care requirements.
- Recognize and respond to non-verbal cues for discomfort or illness.
- Assist with mobility, including wheelchair transfers and safe navigation.
- Follow emergency protocols, including safe evacuation and redirection when needed.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
