Job Summary
Glenbrook Kids Child Care & Learning Center is seeking a warm, skilled, and highly organized Head Teacher to join our founding team. This position combines classroom teaching with curriculum oversight, ideal for someone who loves supporting teachers, strengthening lesson plans, and ensuring high-quality learning experiences for young children.
The Head Teacher helps shape the learning environment, partners with the Director, and Education Consultant.
Duties
- Develop, refine, and implement the center-wide curriculum. Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive early childhood curriculum that aligns with developmental milestones and educational standards
- Develop weekly lesson plans aligned with early learning standards.
- Model best practices in classroom management, positive guidance, and intentional teaching.
- Partner with families through daily communication, progress updates, and conferences.
- Maintain a safe, clean, nurturing environment that meets CT OEC licensing regulations.
- Mentor and coach assistant teachers and classroom floaters.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children in early childhood settings, including preschool or daycare environments
- Strong background in curriculum development with expertise in literacy education, math instruction, physical education, and Montessori methods
- Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development theories, behavior management techniques, and special education practices such as early intervention strategies
- Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to lead a team of educators effectively
- Experience with lesson planning, tutoring, and implementing standardized assessments
- Exceptional communication skills to engage with staff, parents, and community partners effectively
- Familiarity with child welfare policies and best practices in childcare settings
- Must pass background check, fingerprints, and health screening.

Pay: $ $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32.5 – 35.0 per week
