Royal Caribbean Group's Legal Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Associate Counsel Newbuild reporting to the Senior Manager Associate Counsel Newbuild

This role will work onsite in Miami Florida

Position Summary:

The Associate Counsel (Newbuild) will be a member of the Development and Operations Legal Team The internal business partners include Newbuild Project Design Newbuild Technical Projects Newbuild Supply Chain & Procurement and Newbuild Mission Control and Newbuild teams in various site offices The Associate Counsel (Newbuild) will draft review and negotiate a variety of contracts and provide strategic legal advice on all areas of Newbuild In the process of preparing and obtaining approval for such contracts the Manager Associate Counsel (Newbuild) will interface with accounting finance treasury tax audit and other Legal department teams

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support to Newbuild Project Design Newbuild Technical Projects Newbuild Supply Chain & Procurement Newbuild Mission and Control and Newbuild teams in various site offices

  • Structure negotiate draft and manage design agreements consulting agreements special project agreements master service agreements partnership agreements project terms and conditions and amendments or statements of work in relation to the same together with non-disclosure agreements

  • Provide legal advice to the above-listed internal departments and assist with the administration of contracts in accordance with Company and Legal department policies and internal corporate records management policies

  • Cross-coordinate with other internal departments (ie treasury finance accounting approval committees insurance legal)

  • Engage in direct communications with internal business partners and opposing counsel

  • Research review and interpret the requirements of government agencies laws statutes rules regulations and court decisions

  • Support special projects aimed at streamlining and creating contractual efficiencies within the Newbuild department and the Legal department

  • Identify and evaluate risks and propose solutions to mitigate risk

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited US law school with strong academic credentials

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the practice of law with a focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts

  • Admission to practice law in at least one state; Florida preferred

  • Studies/training in commercial corporate admiralty and/or maritime law

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent drafting ability; must draft contracts executive summaries presentations and business correspondence

  • Must be able to work independently and efficiently under time pressures and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills judgment and the ability to make decisions and assess levels of business risk

  • Must work with a sense of professional pride possess a strong work ethic be proactive enthusiastic and flexible and have business and personal integrity

  • Ability to effectively communicate with business partners including the ability to simplify technical and legal terminology understand business concerns and propose solutions

  • Must be highly organized detail oriented responsive and dependable

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint DocuSign contracts management systems (Agiloft) and online research tools
