Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Surgical Assistant to join our dental team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive chairside assistance during a variety of dental procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. Your expertise will support the delivery of high-quality Periodontal care, from routine treatments to complex surgical procedures, while maintaining a safe and sterile environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with dentists and patients, contributing to improved oral health outcomes in a patient-centered setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during surgical and other periodontal procedures by preparing the operatory, sterilizing instruments, and managing dental materials.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Make dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems like Open dental, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures
- Prepare patients for treatment by reviewing medical histories, explaining procedures using appropriate dental terminology, and assisting with medical documentation.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical records efficiently.
- Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology, coding, and understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control standards and OSHA guidelines.
- Collaborate with the team in four-handed dentistry practices to optimize workflow and patient care delivery.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required, preferably with exposure to periodontics
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, X-ray, and vital signs monitoring is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Open dental, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient privacy is mandatory.
- Experience with infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes is critical for success in this role.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and medical terminology will enhance your effectiveness as part of our team.

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
